The Decks I Design & Build Are Always Set on 16" Center. A 2"x6" Pressure Treated Joist Framing System Is Standard.
The Upright Posts & Supports Are .40 Grade (In The Ground Use) Pressure Treated 4'x4' Stock.
These Post Go Through The Frame & Are One Solid Piece
You Could Literally Drive A Small Truck On My Decks, However I don't Recommend This
As It Would Probably Leave Unsightly Tire Marks On The Beautiful Decking.
